do you know how long i've been craving this?
reminds me of those precious long gone childhood days, when
mama used to bring us to the wet market at
Bedok Reservoir to do her daily grocery shopping. what, this went way back to even before kindy i think? i love how my memory serves me; it picks out the special ones & chooses not to dump them in the trash can.
& i remember the auntie from the coconut store. well, the convenient store that sells grated coconuts. i'd watch her put those half shells in the machine & watch it come out the other end, velvet white flakes as smooth as snow. & then she scared me with the story that she lost her hand in the machine, which was why she always wore gloves. i never did see her without them, btw.
the reward for going through the slippery flooring of the wet market, from the stench of rotting fresh fish (haha, ironic) to the dry corner of the market, where all the hawker stalls are located, with the one big flower stall in the middle, selling fresh sunflowers almost every single day. the treat that came with the price of less than a dollar, served either hot or cold - whichever you preferred - that quenched my thirst & satisfied my young sweet tooth back then.
the auntie would always serve big pieces of beancurd, & i'd eat halfway through that way, then mash all the beancurd up so it slightly dissolves in the sugar syrup. not sure why though, but i noticed i did the exact same thing when i had my first tau huay in six or more years. at least i haven't forgotten how to eat it, haha.
yeah. it's stuff like these i like to remember. scattered, but significant. :)
& guess what? i'm done with my tutorials!!
for this week, that is. hope i can keep this up :)

yep, back to mugging anytime soon.
not
too soon, i hope.
muchos of grande sized love; x
